Once in a generation moment!
So we have just witnessed a once-in-a-generation moment. In the 144 years of test cricket, this is the 3rd time a 10 wicket-haul has happened in an innings.
But let's appreciate the incredible innings by Mayank Agarwal by scoring 150 runs. He got India to a good score of 325 and saved them but this match will not be remembered by this innings but will be overshadowed by Ajaz Patel's 10 wicket haul.
So, the first day ended with Ajaz Patel getting all four wickets.
the second day started off with a
a strong partnership between Saha and Agarwal,
was incredible but no one would expect what happened next.
He then got the wicket of Ashwin and
then the important wicket of Agarwal
who had just scored 150.
Then, New Zealand appealed for an lbw which seemed not out but a surprising and incredible review taken actually got them the important wicket of Axar who was the last registered batsman. Now Ajaz had two easy wickets and he just had to hope the bowler on the other end Somerville didn't take a wicket which we know he didn't. It was the 109th over and he started it off by taking Jayant Yadav's wicket and on the 5th ball of the over Siraj skied and it was taken by Rachin who saved the first test for New Zealand. And history had been made by this 10 wicket haul and I think we will never see this happen again in the near future just because of how hard this achievement this is. This is the first time in the 21st century someone has gotten a 10 wicket haul. And the fact that Ajaz did this at the place he was born in Mumbai feels even more special.
